Starting in Autumn Term.
Neston Methodist Church has been selected for a 6-month trial of a new initiative called Lego Church to be introduced by the Children's Team from the Methodist Centre at Thingwall. It will involve one meeting a month on Thursdays after school until about 6 or 6.30pm. It is aimed at the Primary school age-group and will be led and organised by full-time members of the Children's Team, who will provide the Lego kits and base boards. Each session will begin with refreshments and a challenge to build part or all of a tableau from a Bible story. (There is a published book of stories and instructions for building). The second part of the session will move into the church for a Bible story and prayers using the models produced. Duplo will be provided for younger children.
In order to qualify for this trial, we need to have a pool of supporters to help on a rota, with supervision and refreshments and cover for any sickness or holidays. There will be no requirement to lead sessions or prepare material in advance. When the trial finishes, the lead will be taken over by members of the Methodist Church. This group will reinforce the message given by ‘Open the Book’ and may interest those who deliver ‘Open the Book’.
As a small congregation, we need the help of members of Neston & District Churches Together to provide enough volunteers. If you are willing to help, please contact: Anne Kitchener -email:firstname.lastname@example.org.
