On 18 August the Parish Garden party was again held in Sue Thomas’ garden in Little Neston. The weather forecast was not very encouraging, but undeterred, an enthusiastic team arrived in the morning to erect the three gazebos, and position tables and chairs, whilst others prepared and presented the food and liquid refreshment ready for the afternoon.
The forecast proved correct - the afternoon started dull and threatening, but the sun eventually shone to give us a lovely afternoon of friendly chat and laughter.  Bucks Fizz was offered on arrival, and refreshments of wraps, sandwiches, crisps, nuts and a magnificent selection of cakes, together with scones, jam and cream were all served on the upper lawn. During refreshments, we were entertained by CH64 N’ukes who serenaded us with folk songs and light music. Further sporting entertainment in the form of bean bags to be thrown “down the hole” and an intriguing game consisting of small cork balls to be thrown at a frame without them falling off the frame.  Simple to play but very difficult to describe - and great fun. The rain held off until the gazebos and tables were dismantled and stored away dry!
Many thanks to the behind-the-scenes team of volunteers, you know who you are, and everyone who brought or loaned garden chairs for the 45 people who enjoyed the party, to Maurice Rigby who provided the games, and the musicians. Finally and especially,  thanks to Sue for so generously offering to share her home, her kitchen and garden to provide our venue. It was a lovely successful afternoon.
